Improved DNS Detection and Troubleshooting

Streamlining Domain Verification with Resend.

Verifying a domain is one of the first steps in your Resend journey. We're excited to announce three significant updates that make this process smoother and more intuitive.

1. Introducing dns.email

When setting up DNS records, verification can be frustrating without the right tools. A DNS checker that you find from Google or a local DIG command isn't specifically looking for Resend's required DNS records.

Introducing dns.email.

This is our in-house built DNS lookup tool that lets you instantly check if your DNS records for Resend are properly added. dns.email checks:

  • Confirmation of your Resend-specific DNS setup
  • Clear identification of missing records or typos
  • Highlighted error locations for easy troubleshooting

2. Improved nameserver detection

We now detect what DNS provider your nameservers are pointed to. This allows deep linking to DNS settings for a domain in our UI. We also tailor the table values to the DNS provider. For example, if you're using Gandi as your DNS provider the MX value to verify the domain generates with a trailing period in the MX record.

We've implemented expanded nameserver detection for more DNS providers.

This enhancement:

  • Creates deep links directly to your provider's DNS settings
  • Tailors DNS record formats to match your specific provider's requirements
  • Handles provider-specific formatting (like Gandi's trailing period in MX records)

This contextual awareness means less back-and-forth between platforms and fewer configuration errors.

3. Expanded Provider Documentation

We've significantly expanded our DNS provider documentation with detailed, provider-specific guides. New step-by-step instructions are now available for:

Each guide offers clear, visual instructions tailored to your provider's interface, ensuring you have exactly what you need for successful verification.

These improvements reflect our commitment to creating the best possible developer experience. Domain verification should be straightforward, not a roadblock to getting started with Resend.
